Truth Tuesday

Guess who is going to be out of town tomorrow? This girl. So, welcome to this week's Truth Tuesday Monday!

  • Claire is over nine months old and I have never taken out her diaper champ. For those of you who aren't diaper-changers, that means that Richie has been the one to unload all her poopy diapers from our house to the dumpster. Isn't he the best?
  • THIS article makes me so dang mad, but not for the reasons you might think. Sure, the midwife should have known better. But what about the MOM? She was completely irresponsible and the article mentioned no charges being brought against her. If you've had three c-sections, you are told plenty of times that VBAC deliveries are high-risk. That mother knew better and didn't get the proper medical care she needed to take care of her baby. If you ask me, the mom should also have some sort of consequence.
  • Last week I broke my mom's sewing machine (I've been "borrowing" it for two years now). I waited 24 hours and tried using it multiple times before officially declaring it "broken". I took it to the repair shop the next day and it worked perfectly. Don't you hate when that happens? The little old man that was helping me thought I was a complete idiot.
  • One time, my cousin/BFF, Danielle, was helping me clean out under my bed and we found a rotted, wrinkly, smelly pumpkin. It was September, and the pumpkin was still there from the previous Halloween.
  • You know someone is a true friend when they'll help you de-junk your room ALL THE TIME. I can't tell you how many memories I have of Danielle helping me go through piles of crap in my room. (See above)
  • I used to be a pack rat. (See above)
  • The picture below totally cracks me up. Seriously, just stare at it for a while.

Truth Tuesday

Are we noticing a pattern here? I guess I'm out of town every other Tuesday. Sorry for missing last week's post!
  • Claire was eating pears a few days ago and I got some on her cheek. When I was cleaning her up, I wiped the pear off her cheek and ate it. It was one of those moments that you pause and think, "Did I REALLY just do that? Did I really just eat food off my child's face?"
  • During the Spring semester of track at USU, a few of the guys on the team got a pet duck. This pet duck joined us at practice and was very social. It would actually run with us. It was hilarious to watch it waddle as fast as it could, following people during their workouts. I think they got rid of it after a while because it stopped coming to practice. It never even got to come to a meet.
  • Today we went to Taco Time to meet up with some of Richie's friends from Oklahoma. After I ordered my food, a little old lady in line behind us got after me for not ordering any food for Claire. Um, no. I won't be ordering a burrito and mexi-fries for my nine month old baby.
  • If I drove across to country to Utah and could pick any restaurant to eat at (that wasn't in Oklahoma), it wouldn't be Taco Time.
  • It is my personal belief that if you don't cry during the movie UP, you are heartless and have no soul.

  • My uncle posted this picture of the "5 little cousins" on Facebook the other day. There are so many awkward things to point out. Also, I apologize to my cousins/brother in advance for any embarrassment that this might cause.
  1. My pose. I look like I'm doing a squat-in-the-woods-to-go-to-the-bathroom-pose.
  2. Danielle's pose. She looks a little better than me though.
  3. Hailey and I are wearing overalls.
  4. Lindsey has a hamster in her hair.
  5. Landon's pants zip off at the knee.
  6. We're all wearing sketchers.
  7. We all have our jackets tied around our waist.
  8. Landon has a muscle-T on.
Happy Tuesday everybody!

Father's Day

This was Richie's first real Father's Day. He is the greatest dad to Claire! He's so sweet to her and is always patient. If I'm ever playing with her and Richie walks in the room, she's done with me. She'll want to play with Richie because he's the "fun" parent. If she takes a long nap, he sprints to her room ahead of me to get her out of her crib. Just because he misses her. Every day, Claire and Richie will go missing for a while (sometimes 2 or 3 times/day) and I know that they've walked to the canal by our house to go look at ducks. He'll do anything to make her happy. Claire is always bubbly and happy and I know that it's because of the love and attention that she gets from her sweet dad. Thank you Richie for being the most wonderful father to our daughter.

In the hospital when Claire was born. He couldn't take his eyes off of her.
Richie blessed Claire when she was about a month old.
Christmas time
Easter  time
Summer time
Happy Father's Day to my dad! I couldn't have asked for a better Dad. He's always been so supportive of everything that I do and he's the hardest working person I know. He has the greatest sense of humor and he's taught me to always give 100% at whatever I do. Anyone who knows my dad knows that the thing that makes him the happiest is seeing his family happy. We're all so lucky to have you. I love you daddy!

How ridiculous is it that I don't have a picture of my Father-in-Law (Terry) holding Claire? I promise that he cuddles her all the time. I just haven't caught it on camera, I guess.

Terry is so easy to love. When I first got married, I thought it might take a while before I felt comfortable to treat him like a dad. I instantly found a special place in my heart for him. He treats me like one of his own children. One thing that I adore about Terry is his many similarities with Richie. If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Terry, just think of how Richie will be in 20* years.

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful men in my life!

Truth Tuesday

I missed TT last week! I was on a trip and got back late on Tuesday. Sorry!
  • I ate squash baby food last week. Don't worry, it wasn't willingly. My mom was helping me feed Claire on the airplane and she stuffed a bite in my mouth. It was pretty gross.
  • I dyed my hair darker a few weeks ago and the only person that noticed was my neighbor, Natalie. I mostly wanted to get the red out of it, but don't you think it's darker?

  • A month or so ago, two of my brothers temporarily moved in with my parents. Thinking my parents would have no room in their house, I jokingly asked my mom if my little family could move in with them during the summer. Bad. Idea. My mom got SO excited that another grand baby would be living with them. And then I had to tell her that I was kidding. Sorry mommy!
  • And for our last TT this week, I'd like us all to take a moment of silence....

...and be grateful that my face isn't swollen up like a balloon anymore. Happy Tuesday everyone!

First Dip!

Claire went swimming for the first time today. She absolutely loved it! At times, it was hard to even hold onto her because she was laughing, splashing and kicking too much. The pool was really warm and it was nice and sunny today.

My baby is so adorable. Can you imagine a baby with a more contagious smile? And my husband is a total hunk. I'm so lucky to wake up to these two every day.

Cali Trip: Part 3

One day, we went to Happy Hollow. It was such a perfect place for kids! It's a zoo, but there's also roller coaster rides (kiddie sized ones) and a huge play ground. I think we could have spent a few days there and the boys would have been happy. I loved watching Gavin and Griffin play and explore. I can't wait until Claire is old enough to join in on the fun!

Claire and Brynn (unintentionally) matched with their blue and pink outfits. Their blue/white striped shirts were almost identical!

Some of the rides...

My mom and dad were so helpful this trip by carrying the diaper bag, Claire, binkies, diapers, etc. Thanks parentals!
This picture should be my dad's profile picture on facebook. Nag him about it.

Digging for dinosaur bones.

Claire mastered drinking out of a sippy cup this trip.

Gavin and Griffin pushed Grandpa on this swing!

Claire was exhausted after playing all day. She fell asleep in my arms before we even left the park!

After Happy Hollow we headed to the airport to fly home. Thanks for such a fun trip, mom and dad!

Cali Trip: Part 2

We went to a Tech Museum in San Jose on Monday. Claire loved wheeling around in her umbrella stroller and looking at all the new people.

She's even adorable upside-down!
Gavin and Griffin were a hoot to watch! They ran from exhibit to exhibit playing with all the gadgets.

This is what you hide in if you get caught in a tsunami. Think  Brother of Jared.

Competing in wheel chair sports.

Could they be any more concentrated? :)

This place was even fun for adults!

My parents were trying to copy dance moves made my Jim and Kathie on a computer. It was great to watch! :)

Cali Trip: Part 1

A month or so ago, my parents mentioned that they were going to California to visit my brother, Jim, and his sweet little family. Being the mooch that I am, I asked if they'd fly me out there. My parents let me tag along for the trip! They're so good to me. They even got me my own hotel room so my dad's snoring wouldn't wake up Claire. My Dad also gave up his first class seat so Claire could have more room. She was very good on the flight and slept most of the way!

Claire's first plane ride

I took lots of pictures last week, so I'll divide up this trip into a few blog posts. I don't want to go all "picture happy" on one single post. All these pictures were taken at Jim and Kathie's apartment. It was so fun to be able to play with the kids and catch up.

My mom packed an extra suitcase full of toys for the kids. Yep, you read that right. A huge, over-flowing suitcase that only had toys in it. One of the first things the boys wanted to play with was their new bubble whistles.

Claire had so much fun watching the boys play. She is already such a social, people-person! Griffin was excited that there was a baby that he could play with (his little sister is too little to play with right now).

Claire got lots of pats on the face...

And lots of kisses...

And she even got a lotion massage from her two cousins!

This is my new niece, Brynn. This was my first time meeting her! Isn't she just adorable? Her cheeks and thighs are so pinch-able. I'm glad I didn't have to wait any longer to meet her!

My mom and dad were in grand baby heaven!

4 out of 5 grandbabies
Before I flew to California, I sewed a dress for Brynn.

It was a little big on her, but it'll fit her for a little while. I'll make a tutorial on the dress at some point!
