Truth Tuesday

I can't believe that it's already Tuesday again! Time sure flies by fast.

  • A few days ago, Richie was holding Claire and she spit out her binky and started crying.  I grabbed it from the floor and then tried to stick it in Richie's mouth. I must have been pretty tired that day.
  • I play with Claire's bath toys more than she does. Have you ever played with bath toys as an adult? They're super fun.
  • Sometimes I see ideas on Pinterest and then make Richie do them with me. He's such a good sport! Today, Richie was scrubbing the grout in our kitchen with a tooth brush and resolve carpet cleaner (don't worry, I was helping too). I felt like a slave driver. It was totally worth it though. Our grout is squeaky clean.
  • It drives me crazy when people think that doing an ab workout will target the fat on your stomach. Or that doing an arm workout will burn the fat on just your arms. It doesn't work that way. We can't choose what area of the body where fat gets burned. These "targeted" workouts target the MUSCLE, not the fat.
  • The above "truth" came to my mind because I was browsing pinterest and saw waaaaay too many workouts being pinned. Most likely, the majority of those pins will lead to 404 errors or the link will have been removed due to "questionable content". And the pins that actually lead to real workout content? They'll probably never be read. If you can't tell, I'm not a big fan of using Pinterest for exercise related stuff.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Grandbaby Yahtzee

This year for Mother's day, I made Grandbaby Yahtzee.

Want to make your own version? It's really easy! At Hobby Lobby, they have 1" wooden cubes in packs of 16. They're 3 or 4 dollars for the whole pack. Don't forget to print their 40% off  COUPON that they almost always have before you go! I painted my blocks white because the corners/edges will show.

Before paint

After paint

Next, I printed off 0.9" x 0.9" pictures of all the grand babies and mod podged them onto each side of the blocks. I chose to put a layer of mod podge over the whole cube once they were done to make them more durable. That's it! Pretty easy, huh?

What did I do with the extra blocks? I'll post what I made soon!

Nursery

I've been working on Claire's baby book lately, so I took a picture of her nursery to put in it. Have I ever posted a picture of her room on here before? I'm sorry if I already did. It's just too cute, I had to make sure you all saw it!

Willow Park Zoo

We took Claire to the Zoo here in Logan last week. She loved it!

See Claire's little pony-tail on top of her head? So cute.

Chubby cheeks

Feeding the ducks
If you're in Logan, you should head over to the Willow Park Zoo. There aren't tons of animals, but it's a beautiful place to spend the afternoon!

Truth Tuesday

I'm starting a new blogging tradition called Truth Tuesday. My friend over at A Little Bird Told Me does one every week and I thought I'd give it a try! Why, you ask? I'm hoping that it will force me to update my blog more. Also, I normally only post pictures of Claire and brag about how cute she is. Maybe TT (Truth Tuesday) will help me to venture out a little more on my blogging topics.

TT will consist of random thoughts that have no general topic and are in no particular order. Here goes...

  • Our little blog is almost to TEN THOUSAND VIEWS. See how excited I am about it? I used my caps-lock key. That's how excited I am. I know some of you real bloggers out there get 10,000 views each week, but just let me be excited, okay? :)
  • Claire drew on her face with pen a few days ago. Some of you already saw that on facebook, but I didn't want anyone to miss out on my parenting-fail.
  • Richie has never left our toilet seat up. Ever. Keep in mind that we've been married for almost 3 years.  That's a real man right there.
  • I get asked all the time if I'm going to go back to school to finish my degree. Just to be clear, I already graduated. I majored in Statistics with a Math minor. I posted the (obligatory) pictures of me in my cap and gown, and my diploma once it arrived. I assume people make this mistake because I had Claire. I believe in family AND education.
  • I think what Angelina Jolie did was very brave. That would be such a hard decision to make. I also think that anyone who hasn't had to make that decision before should keep their negative comments to themselves. Don't know what I'm talking about? Go HERE.
  • I'm now realizing that TT might just turn into a bragging post for me. I did have 3 "truths" about Claire crawling before 7 months old, climbing the stairs before 8 months old, and already knowing to give kisses when you ask for them. But I deleted those bullet points because I don't want to brag.
  • I've considered deleting this whole blog post multiple times. I don't blog about feelings, so this blogging style is foreign to me.

Well, that's all for this week's TT. Can you tell it's late? Good night!

Mother's Day

I still remember it like it was yesterday. Early January 2012, I was awoken suddenly to Lauren jumping on the bed excitedly. She said "Guess what?! I'm pregnant!" That was the day that we found out that Lauren would be a mom, and what a mom she is! Watching Lauren be a mom has truly made my appreciation for all mothers, especially my own, grow immensely.

Lauren has gone through a lot as a mother already. She finished school with a grueling summer semester of 5 classes while being about 7 or 8 months pregnant! She has had to deal with a child that has acid reflux for months. And she has had to deal with the most difficult child of all... me.

I love watching Lauren play, love, and teach Claire every day. I know that Lauren is probably the main reason that Claire is as happy of a baby as she has become. I love knowing that they are my family for all eternity, and could not have asked for a better mother for my daughter.

I love you, Lauren! Happy Mother's day! And Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in my life. I love and respect each and every one of you for everything that you mean to me in my life! You all are the best!
