On day five we went to Skagway. Our activity was dog sledding. It was amazing! The dogs were so excited to see all the tourists arrive on the bus. The only training the dogs do during the summer is hauling tourists on wheeled carts. When we got on the cart, the dogs were trying to run forward, even though the brakes were on. Who knew that they loved running so much?
There were sixteen dogs to pull a cart of 6 people, plus one "driver"
There were two litters of puppies that were 2 weeks and 3 weeks old. They have the tourists hold the puppies so that the dogs will get used to being handled. Richie and I were more than willing to help out. They were adorable.
After the dog sledding, we went into town for some shopping and food. We also went to the historic White Pass train.
