Willow Park Zoo

Richie and I went to the zoo for our Friday night date this week. It was so much fun! The last time we went to a zoo was on our Honeymoon... 9 months ago! Time flies.

Baby birds! We fed them for a while. See attached video :)

This goose was HUGE! It was probably 3 feet tall.
Turtle. He was kinda boring.
Cockatiels.

Me and Richie!

We followed this peacock around for about a half an hour, trying to get a picture of it. Richie finally got a post card-perfect picture. It is also mating season for peacocks.. This guy was literally shaking his tail feather at all his lady friends, trying to catch their attention. Sorry, no video!
Here are the baby ducks that we fed. They are so cute!

New Job

As some of you may know, I got a new job a few weeks ago! I've been working in the Math/Statistics advising department at USU as an assistant. I love it so far! It's so flexible and my boss is funny, nice, and really laid-back. I'll tell a story to give you an idea of what she's like:

Today, Linda (my boss) called the phone here and talked with Kristi (one of the other assistants). Upon answering the phone, Kristi heard someone yelling into the phone in a foreign accent, saying that they needed to take a math placement test. Kristi asked when she would need to take it and what city she lived in. Linda informed her that she needed to take the placement test at midnight because she worked all day, and that she comes straight from Hell. haha. Kristi figured out pretty quick that it was Linda on the phone.

After I had worked here for a week or so, I stopped shadowing the other assistants and became an official employee. I started answering emails and making four year plans for people. One afternoon the office was very quiet, and there wasn't really anything to do. Linda asked me if I wanted an organizing project to do, or if I didn't want to be "bothered" with something. I was completely shocked. My boss ASKING me if I wanted to work? This is when I knew I was going to love this job.

Ultimately, this job is the best. It has very flexible hours, and the people that I work with are so great. Actually, I'm at work right now. I'm administering a Math Placement Test, so all I really need to do is make sure no one is cheating. haha

I bet you all wish you had a job this amazing. :)

And here's a picture.. because I never read other people's blog posts unless they have a picture on them.

This is when Richie met our sweet niece, Caydence, for the first time after getting home from his mission. Isn't it the most precious thing you ever saw? If you haven't met her, you're missing out.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

Dating Richie was so much fun. We got to do so many fun things, so I thought I'd share them with you all. :)

Me and Richie at a hockey game. After this was our first kiss.

Halloween 2009. Hailey, Haley and Rachel came up to go to the Utah State Howl. We dressed as Greek Goddesses and Richie and his friends dressed emo.

This was taken the night we were engaged. I love this picture because you can see how happy both of us were.

We went on a double date with my parents on this day. It was a "White Trash Day"! We went bowling and to Rocky Mountain Raceway. This was taken the day before we got engaged.

Rocky Mountain Raceway again.

My 19th Birthday! We went to Leatherby's (an ice cream shop), a movie, and shooting. This has actually become a Birthday tradition for me. I don't have any pictures from my 20th Birthday though.

Bowling. On Thursday nights, bowling is only $1/game so we did this a lot last year!

Richie took me fishing at Second Dam. I rocked that fishing vest.

Fishing at Bear Lake. You can't tell, but it was FREEZING. I made Richie take off his hood for the picture. We never ended up catching a fish. Some day we will.

Rafting! We went to Jackson Hole with Richie's family last summer and had a blast.

Jackson Hole again.

Roasting hot dogs.

Utah State Basketball game! The picture doesn't do the experience justice. These games are EPIC. There are always tons of people there. We were just really early.
Dating Richie was a lot of fun, but being married to him is TONS better. :D

Lily Ann is here!

Baby Lily is here! We're so excited for Tyler and Amy. They're going to be great parents. Lily was born at 10:34 this morning, weighed 8lbs 6 oz, and was 20.5 inches long.

Here's Richie and me with baby Lily!

Lilly and me!

Richie and Lily! He's so cute with kids. He's going to be such a great daddy!

Landon with Lily. Before holding her, he asked, "What sort of structural mechanism should be employed to support the infant's cranium?" Such an engineer.

Scott and Heather with Lily. Their first granddaughter!

Welcome baby Lily! We're so excited to finally have you here!

Track and Field

Our blog would not be complete without a post about track, considering I spend hours and hours on it every week! I only have one or two pictures from college, so I'll start back from my Junior year in high school.

This is probably my favorite high jump picture. I remember that it was SO cold that day. If you look at my wrist you can see that I'm wearing two layers of spandex.

I added this picture for two reasons. First, notice that my hair is curled. This particular track meet was the same day as prom. When the meet started going later and later in the afternoon, I went into the girls locker room and started curling my hair, only to return outside and compete. I went back and forth from hurdles to getting ready to the 4x100 relay to putting on make up etc. the whole afternoon. Luckily my date was also on the track team, so he didn't mind that we didn't get to do a day activity. Also notice the knee brace. I tore my PCL in December (a few weeks before track season). I spent 5 months in physical therapy. This was one of my first meets back. I was so excited!

Jumping my senior year.

Mark Faldmo home meet. Richie had never been to a track meet before, but came to support me.

My dear cousin, Hailey, and her family drove up to Logan from Salt Lake to watch me jump.

Me approaching the bar. You can see the head coach on the right side of the picture.

Clearing the bar at the Logan meet!

I don't have any pictures from this year, but they all look the same anyways!

A Day of Bargains!

Richie was sweet enough to let me go on a spring shopping spree today! I'm sure he was pleased at my amazing bargain shopping skill though. :) Who knew Ross could be such a great store?

Jean capris-$15

Cute lace top-$12
Black leggings-$5
White shoes-$20 (regularly $40)

Off white lace shoes-$20 (regularly $40)

My itch to shop must have rubbed off on Richie. He got a tape adapter for the car and two HDMI cables (all were on sale).

I also convinced him to get this schnazzy tie.
Paisley tie-$10

We ended the night with Subzero. To go along with our "Bargain Day", we got both of our ice creams for free! For those of you who live in Logan, you need to get BlueCache cards! You get all sorts of discounts and freebies in the Cache Valley area!

Summertime!

It's finally here!

After 9 months of grueling study, the 2010 - 2011 school year has finally come to a close! Lauren, of course, received better grades than me, even though she picked up a new job as an advising assistant right at the end of the year!

We spent our first few days of vacation down with family, where we had a Cinco de Mayo birthday party for my mom, watched Paige's spring ice skating show, and hung out with family. Then it was back to Logan for work!

Tonight we went on a walk to relax from our 40ish hours (combined) of work. Here's a couple pictures:

No, our feet are NOT on the ground!

Sitting outside of the spectrum. We love Logan!

Summer is fun! Hopefully we'll be better about keeping everybody updated on the blog! (At least until school starts again!)

Christmas 2010

Our first Christmas tree.

Perfect gingerbread house. Please notice the Santa Clause, brick driveway and snowman. I guess that's what happens when two OCD people make a gingerbread house.

Richie got Lord of the Rings.

Lauren got a cute new wallet.

Lauren was trying to act surprised about the Popcorn maker that she already knew about.

Enjoying the new popcorn maker!

Our sweet nephews and Santa!

It has become a tradition in the Gwilliam family to get a new t-shirt every year. Richie's says,
"YES, I am good with computers. NO, I am not going to fix yours."

"O Come Let Us Adore Me." How appropriate.

Kathie and Richie working on a Minute to Win it game.

Another Minute to Win it game. Richie liked this one the best. :)

Jazz game!

Matt got home a few days after Christmas. His biggest fear in coming home was that all his clothes had been stolen, so we all wore his clothes to the airport. We don't have any other pictures of Christmas with the Preece Family, but we had a great "Late Christmas" with them!

We had a very relaxing, fun Christmas with both families!
